ID & Password in the Library

You must login to use internet workstations in the library.
Remember to logout when you leave the workstation.

• Carnegie Mellon students, faculty and staff login with Andrew ID/password.
  
• DAY PASS Visitors login with a "Day Pass," a temporary ID/password good for 24 hours, obtained by showing valid photo ID at any circulation desk.
  
  • "Valid photo ID" means that you must present one or more documents that, together, provide both your PHOTO and your current ADDRESS. Some examples of useful identification include student or faculty ID, corporate ID, driver's license, non-driver's license, and/or a passport.
    
• RESEARCHER PASS (WEEK) Visitors who can document long-term research needs may request a "Researcher Pass," a temporary ID/password good for one week. Any library faculty member is authroized to approve requests.
  

  1. Request at any reference desk

  • Show valid photo ID (above)
  • Provide a letter or email recommendation from your home institution, or a detailed written explanation describing your research need

  2. Library faculty (librarian or archivist) approves your request with a signed form.

  3. Take the signed form to any circulation desk to obtain a week-long temporary ID and password.
