I am writing to commend the team responsible for the Pittsburgh Jewish Newspaper Project for making it possible to search the pages of The Jewish Criterion and its sister publications. The work of the PJNP is an extraordinary triumph, allowing Jews and others throughout the world to access a century of Jewish life in Pittsburgh that might otherwise be lost to time. In my case, I have been successful in locating over 50 'lost' relatives in the pages of the Criterion along with precious details of their lives, loves and character. Indeed, I even discovered an announcement of my grandmother’s engagement to another man a year before she married my grandfather!! Kudos, again, for the great contribution the Pittsburgh Jewish Newspaper Project has made to preserving the Jewish past of the city and surrounding area.
