• Academic OneFile (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  ca. 1980-present (updated daily).
  Citations to and some full text of journal articles in all fields. Search by keyword or use the Subject Guide and then select Narrow by Subdivision to browse. All major sports golf, tennis, football, soccer, ice hockey are subject headings. Indexing and some full text to: Golf Digest (1998-present), Golf Magazine (1980-present), and Baseball Research Journal (2000-present).

• America: History and Life (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1964-present (updated monthly).
  Citations and some abstracts to journal articles, dissertations, and book and media reviews on United States and Canadian history from prehistory to the present. Covers all historical topics, including foreign policy, and a variety of disciplines including popular culture, gender studies, anthropology, literature and folklore, etc. Indexes such journals as Journal of Sport History, Sport History Review, Nine and Sports Historian. Also has a non-US history counterpart Historical Abstracts. You can also search America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts simultaneously.

• Historical Abstracts (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1967-present (Updated monthly).
  Citations and some abstracts of journal articles, books, and dissertations on world history from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada). It covers all historical topics, including foreign policy, and a variety of disciplines including religion, gender studies, anthropology, political science, etc. Indexes such journals as European Sports History Review, British Journal of Sports History, and Sports Historian. Also has a U. S. and and Canadian history counterpart, America: History and Life. You can also search America: History and Life and Historical Abstracts simultaneously.

• New York Times (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1851-1999.
  Search and display the full text.

• Proquest (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  ca. 1980s-present (updated daily)
  Citations to and some full text of journal and newspaper articles in all fields. To limit your search to either newspapers or journals, click on Databases selected, Clear All Databases and then mark either Newspapers or Proquest Research Library which includes the full text of many history journals. Next click on Continue to select a way in which to search. Recommended: Advanced which offers flexibility in where you want your search terms to appear. Includes indexing and some full text to: Golf Magazine (1988-present), Golf Digest (1988-2003), Sports Illustrated (1985-present), Sports Afield (1988-present), etc.

• Readers' Guide Retrospective (Carnegie Mellon users only)
  1890-1982.
  Online versions of the print index Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature. These databases contain citations to popular magazine and journal articles in all subject areas, including sports. Includes indexing of: Sport (1978-1982), Sports Illustrated (1961-1983), and Skiing (1978-1982).

If full text links for journal articles are not provided, click on to see retrieval options. This is only for journal article citations, and may not be available in all databases. Otherwise, use Cameo to see if materials are in the Carnegie Mellon University Libraries. If they aren't, you can use the Interlibrary Loan options to either borrow or obtain a photocopy of the material.
