Carnegie Mellon Libraries: User Services: Interlibrary Loan: What if I break the rules?
What if I break
the rules?
What if I
don't return my interlibrary loan on time?
If you keep
a loan more than 14 days overdue, the ILLiad system will block
your interlibrary loan privileges and we will also block
your library account. All privileges will be reinstated when you return
the item.
All overdue textbooks borrowed through interlibrary loan are now subject to a $5.00 per day overdue fine due to chronic abuse of the privilege that endangered our ability to borrow. To ensureprompt return of your textbook, please return it to the ILL office instead of the Circulation Desk. Any other interlibraryloan items that are overdue may or may not be subject to fines and fees depending on the lending library and on how long overdue the item is.
If you consistently
keep items overdue, we reserve the right to refuse your interlibrary loan
requests.
What if I
lose an interlibrary loan?
If you damage
or lose a loan item, you must pay the replacement cost and any processing
fees charged by the lending institution.
If not paid
immediately, the charges will be billed as official university debt, following
Carnegie Mellon procedures for lost library materials.
