Why Use the WebVPN?
|
|
Almost all e-resources available through the University Libraries are licensed for use by Carnegie Mellon students, faculty and staff only.
Accessing these resources is no problem if you are using a computer on the campus network. However, many Carnegie Mellon users are
- remote users
- or may be using wireless on-campus
- or may be using their own Internet Service Provider
These users must authenticate (login with Andrew username and password) using WebISO or connect through the WebVPN.

Known Problems
|
|
The following resources may
- not display at all
- work intermittently, OR
- not have complete functionality
- MetaLib
- SciFinder Scholar (both the desktop and Web version)
- Web of Science
In these cases, use the downloadable Cisco Client instead. This downloadable Cisco Client is not the same thing as Cisco's WebVPN.
Mac users: The VPN works best if you use the Firefox browser. You can download Firefox from this site.
